Procedure details

The duplicate of the examination certificate and/or the certificate of authorization to use the professional title is issued if the original document has been lost. You will receive the duplicate in place of the original and it has the same validity as the original. The original is declared invalid when the duplicate is issued.

In order to issue a duplicate of the license to use the professional title in a healthcare profession, the conditions required for the initial issue must still be met:

Qualification

You have completed your vocational training in full.

If you have not been trained in accordance with the law applicable in the Federal Republic of Germany,

  • the equivalence of your level of training or knowledge according to the German training and examination regulations applicable to the respective profession is generally required
  • Good knowledge of the German language

reliability

You have not been guilty of any behavior that would make you unreliable to practice the profession.

Health suitability

You are medically fit to practise the profession.

  • Permission to use the professional title:
    • Proof of completed vocational training
    • Certificate of good conduct for submission to authorities
    • medical certificate

The application for a duplicate must be submitted in writing to the relevant government. If the documents are complete and have been checked, the duplicate of the certificate and/or document can be issued by the government.

The costs range from 15 to 40 EUR.

The government that issued the original documents is responsible for issuing a duplicate. Information on the documents to be submitted can be obtained from the district governments.
